On the same day Jimbo Fisher was fired, Texas A&M athletic director Ross Bjork laid out the qualifications needed for the net head football coach of the Aggies.

Bjork said an advisory group, former players and industry leaders will be utilized in keying in on potential replacements.

“Here’s the profile from what we will work on,” he told reporters Sunday. “A coach that has a program identity, great interpersonal skills, track record of player development, commitment to academics, recruiting machine, supreme organizational skills, culture of discipline, passion for the game, proven winners, strong leadership skills, involved in the community, of course knowledge of Xs and Os, and someone who understands and can capitalize in today’s modern-day college athletics.”

The Aggies are 11-11 in the last 22 games under Fisher.

Bjork said what he is looking was something missing under Fisher.

“Consistency. Positivity and confidence,” he said. “That’s what is boils down to. Everything we do in this world rises and falls on leadership, good and bad. How you make decisions on a consistent basis, how leadership is provided on a consistent basis, that plays into we’re going to run these plays. We’re going to map these plays on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We’re going to practice them. Then, in the game, do people have the confidence to run that play? It all adds up. No matter what the decision is. Whether it is a tactical football decision or anything else.

“To me, the fundamentals of that process, there was something just not clicking to provide confidence to everyone in the program.”
